Bunnahabahain 6 Years Old 2013 Bourbon Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky 500ml
This is a 500ml expression of very lightly peated Bunnahabhain distilled in 2013 and aged for 6 years. Released by Sansibar Whisky and bottled at 46% Abv.
Originally founded in 1880 by The Islay Distillery Company, Bunnahabhain is Islay’s most northern distillery and can be characterised by the salty influence of its coastal location. Owned by South African company Distell Group, Bunnahabhain is Islay’s most lightly peated whisky. Distell also own distilleries such as Tobermory/Ledaig and Deanston, with much of the Tobermory whisky being aged in Bunnahabhain’s warehouses. We often see Bunnahabhain in two forms, the standard Bunnahabhain expression which is peated to 3PPM (total phenol parts per million) or the Staoisha/Moine releases which are often around 50ppm. A brand often favoured by collectors, the distillery is well known for their use of sherry casks as well as their younger, heavily peated Staoisha expressions.
Founded in Germany by renowned whisky collector Jens Drewitz, Sansibar Whisky has been supplying the Sansibar restaurant with many fine casks of both whisky and rum for years. Located on the Sylt island just between Germany and Denmark, the restaurant has become a hot retreat for those looking to experience the very best in food, wine and spirits. Jens hand picks almost every cask selected, often directly at the distilleries themselves, before bottling them under the Sansibar brand. Often collaborating with bottlers/importers across the globe, Drewitz has picked some of the worlds finest single casks of whisky and some of the rarest rums money can buy. Sansibar also acts as the importer and distributor of other bottling labels to Germany such as North star and Hidden Spirits.
