Bottled by La Maison Du Whisky for their 3rd edition of the Artist Collective, this release is a 13 year old Aultmore distilled in 2006. The artist collective is a series of whiskies that looks to create unique expressions that are both approachable and affordable. Bottled at 48% abv and a vatting of 2 sherry butts, this Aultmore is a gentle and sherry forward affair.
Nose: Fresh muesli in the morning topped with cranberries and dates. A lovely soft ripe pears influence that is heavily backed up by stone fruits and vanilla. Gentle peach and some light spice with shortbread and oatmeal biscuits.
Palate: Soft and sweet cranberries with lots of raison oatmeal cookies. Heavy sherry flavours here, many would call it a sherry "bomb". Sour cherries develop into butterscotch with some light creamyness. Backed up by excellent fruit notes, peaches and pears poking through.
Finish: Soft and gentle thanks to the 48% Abv bottling. Focuses on the fruity notes of the sherry component and lingers for a little bit of time. Fades away slowly leaving behind a lovely, sweet style of cherries.
