Marion, Adrien, Florian, Jared, Jean-Christophe, Jean-Marc, Raphaël and Salvatore, the entire team at the historic Maison du Whisky boutique selected the whiskies featured in this collection christened 20 Rue d'Anjou. The four single malts chosen include this incredibly well-balanced Clynelish sherry cask. Firstly in terms of aromas, where there is perfect osmosis between the aromas from the sherry and malted barley. And then in terms of flavours, where the nobility of its spices, the freshness of its fruit, the silkiness of its mouthfeel and the depth of its heady fragrances bring lots of charm and complexity.
Profile: the rich initial nose is at once chocolatey, apricoty, exotic (mango) and saline. Allowed to breathe, it becomes candied (orange) and lush (bay leaf). The concentrated attack is spicy (cardamom) and fruity (fig). The mid-palate is floral (peony) and slightly earthy. Delicate and characterized by notes of fig and coconut, the finish has a particularly silky texture. Single Cask no. 8680 – Sherry Butt.
