With its 6 vintages, its 271 establishments, its 1300 distiller winemakers, its 5000 winegrowers and unique know-how, Cognac, internationally acclaimed nectar, is bursting with as yet unknown gems. The Through The Grapevine range was created with the aim of unearthing these rare pearls that are just asking to express their potential. A selection of casks and exclusive small batches of cognac, selected directly from passionate producers, each with their own know-how, pledge of quality and unique products.

n 2011, fifth-generation Cognac growers and producers Blandine and Anne-Laure Conte took over the family business comprising 24 hectares in three crus of the Cognac AOC, Petite Champagne, Fins Bois and Bons Bois. For our 2018 Creation Catalogue, we were naturally drawn to this magnificent Petite Champagne from the Nonaville terroir, produced entirely from the Ugni Blanc varietal. Distilled without lees for increased finesse, it was aged initially in a “red” cask and then finished a 4-year-old cask. To boot, it’s their very first Cognac.

Profile: the original initial nose is medicinal (tiger balm), peppery and fruity (grapefruit, grape). Allowed to breathe, it develops herbaceous, milky (coconut) and fermentation notes. The resolute attack wavers between spice, almond milk and rhubarb. The mid-palate is a blend of pressed lemons and dried fruit. The finish restores the milky character of the nose and the palate adds aromatic plants (sage).
