Ichiros Malt and Grain Japanese Whisky 700ml
Highly awarded and coverted, said to be by many as one of the finest current examples of a world blended whisky. A combination of Japanese whisky and carefully selected 3 - 5 year old whiskies imported from the USA, Scotland, Ireland and Canada. The whisky is vatted in 5000-litre wooden barrels built by famous French cooper, Traunsaud. It is then left for a period of 1 - 3 years before bottling always under the watchful eye of Ichiro Akuto at the Chichibu distillery.
This whisky displays big stone fruit, vanilla and bananas on the nose. The fruit sticks around with some vanilla and nuttiness and finishes sweet. A beautifully complex and aromatic whisky.
Nose: On the nose you are happy to welcome the sweet notes of butterscotch, stone fruit, toasted cereals, raisins and banana as well as a hint of malt and pale straw.
Palate: Light, elegant and sweet, you are greeted with toffee, roasted chestnuts, lemon zest, gingerbread, banana and vanilla notes of barley malt.
Finish: Medium length with lingering tang, notes of vanilla, dried pineapple and banana, with a hint of nutmeg.
