The Chichibu distillery has always honoured its family traditions. This whisky is a living testament to that. This is a blended malt from the Chichibu distillery built by Ichiro Akuto that has been aged in Japanese oak with whisky hailing from the Hanyu distillery, which was built by his grandfather and has been aged in Sherry casks. Caramel and citrus with sherried fruit glides across the palate with a great oak presence. Fantastic value for a japanese malt of this callibre.
Nose: the nose is sweet with honey suckle and red apple. It is well rounded with oak, and holds a kiss of vanilla and biscuits notes.
Palate: Sweet spices of cinnamon, nutmeg and a little ginger dance across your palate at first, with a warming wave of honeyed malt that follows. Licks of oak linger and create an overall silky but spicy mouthfeel.
Finish: The finish is medium length with bittersweet notes of oak, mint, liquorice and ginger.
