With the same cask portfolio as a traditional Bourbon house, Westward American Whiskey is brimming with flavour and drinkablity. Although only being around five years old, this whisky is still incredibly generous with a surprising amount of cask influence. With the distillers having the Mecca of craft beer at their doorstep (not to mention considerable brewing experience of their own) all of their grain and yeast is local and hand picked from the beginning, resulting in a truly unique whiskey experience drenched in terrior.
Nose: Malt biscuits hits first with toasted cereals and oatmeal. Fresh banana and honey lightly waft through the core notes and are accented by subtle winter spice.
Palate: Creamy honey and spice is supported by a thick, oily mouthfeel. Chocolate and caramel follow and deepen towards the finish. The cereals are still present but are able to flex under the weight of the cask.
Finish: After the delightful explosion of flavor, you are left with waves of delicate spice and milk chocolate. The final note returns to sweet cereals and malt.
