The Flora and Fauna series are a very special collection of whiskies released by Diagio to exhibit some of their lesser known distilleries. Each one is aged to an extent that perfectly shows each style of distillery with a variety of different casks. There has only ever been one official release from the Benrinnes distillery. Its malts are generally used in blends as the distillery is an excellent representation of the Speyside region as a whole. To have a single malt released by the owners is a rare treat and should definitely not be passed up. This whisky has been triple distilled, much like a lowland malt. It is however much more robust that it's lowland cousins. Its extra run through the still has given it some great biscuity, barley driven notes to the whisky with a good level of sweetness and a lick of peat on the back palate. Delicious stuff.
