On the northern shores of Islay, nestled down a steep hill and along the coast, lies the Caol Ila Distillery—a beacon of consistency and a producer of unique gems. Established in 1846, this distillery has weathered many changes in ownership and fortunes. Now under the steady management of Diageo, Caol Ila plays a crucial role in world-renowned blends like Johnnie Walker, making it the largest producer on Islay.

Whisky connoisseurs have long esteemed Caol Ila for its distinctive peat, flinty, floral, and occasionally fruity notes. With official distillery bottlings becoming more accessible, its popularity continues to rise. For dedicated whisky fans, the allure lies in the single casks and small vattings—hidden gems, the legends of Islay.
