This is a 23 year old release from the Bowmore distillery. Distilled in 1997, matured in a sherry cask and bottled at 43.7% Abv, it comes from the German indepenent bottler Sansibar.

An incredibly sought after single malt, Bowmore has become one of Islay’s premier whisky choices. Originally a licensed distillery since 1816, the distillery has quietly been producing peated malt on islay for 200 years. Acquired by Stanley Morrison in 1963, it was then purchased by Suntory in 1994. Suntory would later go on to acquire Laphraoig in 2014 as well. Bowmore is a medium - heavy peated whisky, clocking in at around 25-30 PPM (Phenol parts per million), and is infamously known for their use of exceptional quality sherry casks. A comparatively small distillery by its output, Bowmore produces about 2.3 million litres of whisky per year. Bowmore bottlings have become legendary in many rights, with collectors heralding releases from the Morrison Bowmore years. Infamous bottlings such as the “Black Bowmore”s released in all sherry casks have become the jewel in many collections across the world,

Sansibar Whisky

Founded in Germany by renowned whisky collector Jens Drewitz, Sansibar Whisky has been supplying the Sansibar restaurant with many fine casks of both whisky and rum for years. Located on the Sylt island just between Germany and Denmark, the restaurant has become a hot retreat for those looking to experience the very best in food, wine and spirits. Jens hand picks almost every cask selected, often directly at the distilleries themselves, before bottling them under the Sansibar brand. Often collaborating with bottlers/importers across the globe, Drewitz has picked some of the worlds finest single casks of whisky and some of the rarest rums money can buy. Sansibar also acts as the importer and distributor of other bottling labels to Germany such as North star and Hidden Spirits.
