Calvados

Calvados is apple and pear brandy from Normandy, made from cider rather than grain spirit. The category sits under three protected AOC names: Calvados AOC, Calvados Pays d'Auge and Calvados Domfrontais, each tied to Normandy fruit and regional production rules.

For Casa de Vinos customers, Calvados is a useful bridge between the whisky, Cognac, Armagnac and wine shelves. It brings orchard fruit, cask-aged depth and genuine table relevance, making it well suited to cheese, apple desserts, pastry, richer savoury dishes and slower after-dinner drinking.

Pommeau de Normandie

Some Pommeau de Normandie may appear in this category. It is related to Calvados, but it is not Calvados itself: Pommeau is made by blending fresh apple juice with young Calvados, then ageing the blend in oak. Treat it as a lower-strength Normandy aperitif style rather than a straight apple brandy.

Current Producers

Christian Drouin is available through Calvados releases and a Pommeau de Normandie expression, with vintage, age or cask-finish details shown on each product page.

Camut is available through aged Calvados bottlings, including 9 and 23 year old releases. These sit naturally for whisky, Cognac and Armagnac drinkers who want mature fruit spirit with structure, orchard depth and a more contemplative drinking style.
