Glen Grant 23yo 1995 Artist Collective 2 Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml ABV 48%
Vanilla plays lead role with this one, notes of caramel and toffee manifest from the richness of the vanilla, malt, coconut, oatmeal and just when you thought this nose couldn’t get any better after a bit of time it really softens up and wafts of fresh milk and light lemon zest present themselves softly.
Big malt to start… Like eating oatmeal for the first time and going ‘ooh that’s what that tastes like’. Surprisingly that oatmeal quickly makes way for a bit of a party and orchard fruits starts dancing around, hints of some medicinal notes in there as well. A truly exceptional palate in the way it offers so much in such a delicate way.
The finish offers a lot as well and although reasonably long in length doesn’t linger as much as some other Glen Grant whisky can. Sweetness of dried fruits like dates and sultanas come forward initially, notes and tobacco and a little bit of liquorice poking its nose in too.
