Littlemill 22yo 1990 53.3% abv

An exceptional Littlemill sample available this week.  With the distillery shutting up shop in the late 90’s and a fire in 2004 putting hopes of a resurgence to bed the opportunity to sample this unique lowland distillery is becoming few and far between.  This is a joint bottling by The Nectar of The Daily Drams and La Maison Du Whisky that was released in 2012 and now very sort after amongst whisky fans world wide.

Fruits and florals initially on the nose, apple crumble, roasted nuts.  The palate is a beautiful textural transition of the notes from the nose with the malty profile manifesting as cereals and nuts, the fruit is still there but now is more on the strawberry side and borderline confectionary.    The palate doesn’t hang around like an unwelcomed guest, it stays for exactly the right amount of time and leaves some pepper as a present on its way out the door.   Lots of beautiful exotic spice on the finish, the perfect ended to a well rounded whisky.   This dram is like waking up on a Sunday with not much on for the day and eating a bowl of cornflakes with fruit on top as the sun shoots through the blinds, not a worry in the world with this one.
