Hampden Estate: The Epitome of Jamaican Pot Still Rum

Operating since 1753, Hampden Estate in Trelawny, Jamaica is renowned for producing some of the most aromatic and flavorful rum in the world. Using its own spring water and time-honoured fermentation techniques, including extended fermentation in open wooden vats and the addition of dunder (acid-rich stillage) from previous distillations. Hampden creates high-ester rhums bursting with tropical fruit and floral notes.

Distillation takes place in traditional double retort pot stills fired by direct heat, capturing a rich and oily spirit with characteristic funk and complexity. Hampden rums are aged in Jamaica’s tropical climate in ex-bourbon barrels, allowing them to develop layers of spices, vanilla, and ripe banana while retaining their intense fruity core. The estate releases both unaged Overproof and aged expressions such as Hampden Estate 46%, Hampden Estate 60% and the high-ester Hampden Great House editions.
