Benrinnes Distillery - Speyside

The Benrinnes distillery specialises in single malt production for use in blends. Although difficult to categorise due to the few releases, it can be described as light and fruity for a Speyside spirit. The only official release has been a Flora and Fauna release. They changed their production methods in 2007, moving from a complicated triple distillation to a more traditional double distillation, changing the flavour profile of their base spirit. They now use 2 wash stills and 4 spirit stills.

The water is sourced from three locations, The Rowan Tree Burn, the Scurran Burn and The Benrinnes Spring. Benrinnes age their whisky in large, heavy stone brick buildings, keeping their ageing warehouse cooler year round. The distillery was constructed in 1826. 3 years later it was destroyed by a flood and rebuilt. In 1896 it burned down and wasn’t rebuilt until the 1950’s.
