The Kanosuke Limited Edition 2023 release is a remarkable addition to the range of single malt whiskies. Crafted from some peated malt distilled in 2018 and 2019, this whisky was aged in a combination of ex-Shochu and ex-Sherry casks before being bottled at cask strength in 2023. The unique blend of cask types used for maturation has resulted in a well-rounded, moreish expression that begins with sweet, fruity, and spicy notes on the nose. The palate is more subtle, offering flavours of citrus fruits, candied peels, and gentle cinnamon spice.

Kanosuke Distillery

Founded in 2017, Kanosuke Distillery is already making waves in the world of whisky, with its innovative approach to production and maturation. The distillery itself is located in Kagoshima Prefecture on the southern Island Kyushu. Kanosuke also has a long history of distilling shochu in Japan, allowing them access to their very own shochu casks. Their combination of traditional whisky making techniques with the addition of ex-Shochu barrels for maturation create a unique whisky profile not found elsewhere.
