The Caol Ila 6 Years Old 2016 by Hidden Spirits is a limited, independently bottled Islay single malt, distilled in 2016 and finished in an Oloroso sherry cask for six years before bottling at cask strength (54.2% ABV) in 2023, with only 328 bottles released.

Nose: Ripe pear, maritime salt, coastal peat, and sweet notes from the sherry cask finish, alongside citrus and vanilla

Palate: Tart fruit, sea salt, coastal smoke, vanilla, and underlying pear notes, showcasing the sherry influence

Finish: Lingering and sweet, with continuing smoke, driftwood, lemon peel, and sweet oak

Caol Ila (pronounced "cull-eela") is Islay's largest distillery, founded in 1846, known for its smoky, peaty single malts with lighter, floral notes compared to other Islay whiskies, using water from Loch Nam Ban and providing a significant component for Johnnie Walker blends. Located near Port Askaig with stunning views over the Sound of Islay, it produces over 3 million litres annually, with most spirit destined for blending, though a popular core range of single malts is available.
