Samai is Cambodia's first premium rum distillery, founded in 2014 in Phnom Penh under master distiller Ms. Moang Darachampich. The name itself is Khmer for modernity — a new generation looking forward, rather than a copy of another country's rum tradition.

Samai controls every stage in-house, from local Cambodian molasses through fermentation, distillation, maturation and bottling. Production combines copper pot stills with a column still — one for richness, one for a lighter, smoother component — then matures across a mix of French and American oak, ex-bourbon and sherry casks, with careful blending before bottling.

Casa de Vinos is Samai's Australian importer, carrying the range across Gold, Kampot Pepper, White and PX expressions. As with every producer page, check each individual listing for its specific age, cask, strength and maturation details rather than assuming they apply across the whole range.
