For maturation of this lovely spirit, the Rye distillate is entered into the barrel at 103 proof, rather than a more industry standard higher proof. A single barrel product, each barrel of Michter’s US 1 Barrel Strength Rye is bottled at its particular alcohol level at the time of bottling. Nose: Dark rye spice, cinnamon, butterscotch, maple sugar, fresh rye bread, stewed fruits, and a hint of root beer

Palate: Intense rye spice, toffee, caramel, black pepper, licorice, walnuts, brown sugar, burnt orange peel, molasses, stone fruit

Finish: Long, warming, fiery cinnamon, black pepper, oak char, gingerbread and a hint of spearmint
