Independent Irish whiskey is still less common than independently bottled Scotch, which makes this 2017 Daily Drams single malt a useful release for drinkers curious about Irish malt outside the standard producer bottlings. It was bottled at eight years old and 53.1% ABV.

The nose brings banana lollies, vanilla custard, soft malt biscuits and poached pear. The palate follows with honey on warm toast, lemon drops, creamy toffee and shortbread, before a finish of vanilla yoghurt, ripe apricot, gentle oak spice and lingering creaminess.
