Linkwood 1995 30 Years Old Artist #15 The Dark Side Of The Moon 700ml

The Artist #15 range continues its exploration of Scottish distilleries along the left bank of the Spey Bay, arriving in the town of Linkwood, where this whisky was distilled. Founded in 1821, the distillery doubled its production capacity in 1971 and added two additional stills in 2013. The single malt it produces is highly valued by master blenders, who affectionately describe it as “green and grassy.” With its delicate contrasts and deeply malty character, this Andalusian-tinged version highlights the purity of a distillate that is both full of personality and extremely elegant.

Tasting Notes:

Nose : Refined and deep. Intensely malty, heady (orris concrete), and citrusy, the aromatic palette develops into more medicinal (tiger balm), herbal (alfalfa), and honeyed (acacia) notes. With aeration, scents of coconut, lychee, and passion fruit bring vibrant exuberance.

Appearance : cuivre orangé.

Palate : Both lively and silky. Powdery (ginger), infused (gentian), and fruity (pear, mirabelle plum), the flavour profile is remarkably youthful and fresh. Closely tied to malted barley, it evokes the atmosphere of a malting floor. Flavours of candied lemon and perfectly ripe mango then sweep across the palate.

Overall : Long and delicate. Delightfully vanilla-led, with notes of tobacco expressing great refinement. Flowing with herbal infusions (bay leaf, thyme, oregano), the retro-olfaction transports us to Andalusia. Raisins, dates, and almonds echo the influence of a sherry wine, both spicy and saline.
