Heartwood x Whisky Abbey Cannon Ball Wally 500ml, 45.7%

This is a new release from Heartwood/TIB bottled for Whisky Abbey 2025. For this whisky, Tim Duckett took unpeated new make spirit from Launceston Distillery and aged it in a single 50 year old Oloroso sherry barrel for almost seven years. 

Tasting Notes

Nose: Old oloroso sherry with honeyed porridge in the background. Raisins and red berries from the oloroso combine beautifully with the depth of the malt. 

Palate: Similar structure, this time the sherry takes a back seat to the honeyed and light demerara sugar draped over more porridge. A lovely oloroso influence that never overpowers the palate. 

Finish: Almost on Werther's Originals with hints of caramel before raisin and banana to close.
