We are very excited to present Chichibu The Peated 2022 available for sale to you now.  A revitalization of Chichibu’s ‘The Peated’ series this is the first release since 2018.   Bottled at 53.5% abv the release is of 11000 bottles total.   Ichrio and the team’s dedication to producing exquisite peated whisky has been a drive for the distillery from the very start and each release somehow seems to just get better and better.  A harmonious whisky with enough peat present to please the biggest of peat heads and enough complexity and nuance to tick all the boxes for lovers of regular Chichibu releases as well.  

Chichibu Distillery

Founded in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto, grandson of the founder of Hanyu Distillery, Chichibu Distillery is located in the Saitama Prefecture in the town of Chichibu. In terms of output, they are one of the smallest distilleries in Japan, producing only a small amount of single malt whisky each year. 

Chichibu’s focus is on using traditional whisky making techniques and ensuring quality in every whisky they produce. They source water from the nearby high mineral content Chichibu River, along with a small amount of peated barley to tie everything together. Chichibu whiskies are highly regarded by whisky enthusiasts, for both the numerous awards they have won over the years and their exceptional balance of flavour, texture and overall quality.
