Edradour's 13-year-old Sauternes release was distilled in 2012 and matured entirely in first-fill Sauternes hogsheads before bottling at 48.2% ABV.

Full-term maturation is the important distinction. These were not finishing casks applied late in the whisky's life; the Highland spirit spent all 13 years in wood seasoned by the French sweet wine. That places the Sauternes influence at the centre of the release while retaining Edradour's compact distillery character.

Natural colour and non-chill filtration keep the whisky's cask-derived colour and texture intact. It provides a focused view of sweet-wine maturation across the whisky's full development, rather than only its final months.
